Guest Post by Sophie - Soundtracks To My Life

Welcome to another addition of Caz’s guest blog! As you all know Caz has left her blog in the capable hands of her followers while she takes her exams stress free! Today's blog is by me Sophie from my blog:
I applied to Caz’s guest blog in order to help out a blogger I look up to as I want success from my blog and Caz is someone I look up to in this crazy world of blogging and also I enjoy reading her posts!
Basically the concept is, as a tag post, think of songs that really affect your life or remind you of a certain time in your life, imagine all the songs on a 12 track Album that sums up your life and you as a person. Then write that list down and post it with a link back to this post mentioning mine and Caz’s blogs with your track list and why you chose certain songs. It is a less honest way of letting people get to know you!

Sophie’s Life Soundtrack
1. Green Day- Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)- This song is a song I want playing at my wedding and my funeral it just sums up life in general and my life and I just love the fact it’s I hope you had the time of your life even though things went up and downhill. Great song and Great Band!
2. Ewan McGregor (Moulin Rouge)- Your Song- I just love the way he sings this song and it gives me the tingles it’s such a beautiful song but I prefer his version of it! It actually makes me cry and I just think it’s my song.
3. Mcfly-We Are The Young- This song is just great for turning up loud and acting carefree and dancing away and singing too loud to, My favourite band whi o I love and have followed since they started I’ve seen them live and they are just full of feel good songs just like this one!
4. Charlotte Church- Dream A Dream- Now this song is a little odd but really it’s the Music I like, Il Divo do a cover of this under a different title called Isabel, but the music is beautiful and it’s what I want to walk down the aisle to!
5. Lily Allen- Littlest Things- I am apparently a Lily Allen Lookalike so I had to have one of her songs here, and this one just sums up relationships and my passed relationships and about those little things that make or break relationships weather it is love or friendships!
6. Samantha Barks Les Miserables 25th Anniversary - On My Own- My favourite musical that gives me such tingles this song is my favourite played loud I wish I could belt it out like this girl can so effortless with such emotion, a truly moving song.
7. Embrace- Ashes- This I like to say is my mum’s song it one she wants playing at her funeral and it just really gives the feeling of strength to me and is such a great tune played out loud on a bad day that will make you determined and stronger minded!
8. If Tomorrow Never Comes- Garth Brooks/Ronan Keating- It doesn’t matter who is singing this it always makes me cry as it was played at my Granddads funeral, but in a way it makes me smile, it’s a beautiful song too.
9. Angry Anderson- Suddenly- It was played at Nessa’s wedding in Gavin and Stacey and is such a classic rock songs with quite meaningful lyrics, not a common song but I say listen to it!
10. My Chemical Romance- Helena- I love MCR and found it hard to choose a song to sum up a few years in my life where these were my obsession and where I found my rock music love, back in my emo days I loved them and still do they write amazing lyrics to go with there songs and I love how they are now playing around with there genre and image showing they aren’t emo or Goth music they can be diverse.
11. Twilight Soundtrack- Tremble For My Beloved- My favourite trilogy films and where I found a love for books again, I love this song it is so different and immediately makes me think of this film and R-Patz! Phwoar! Hehe!
12. Human League-Don’t You Want Me- I love Classics and this song is one of them it comes on and your like Omg I love this song and start singing and dancing! I love music from the 80’s and 50’s I’m so diverse!

Caz’s Life Soundtrack
1. S Club 7 - Bring The House Down-. S Club 7 were my all time favourite band when I was about 10, I owned every album they released and loved all their songs. This song was one of my favourites and will always remind me of being young, I also have no shame in knowing the words to pretty much every song they've made.
2. My Forever - Now Faded Photographs - This is my most played song on iTunes so I had to feature it! I can't really explain why I love it but the lyrics are so well written and it's so nice to fall in love with a song by a small unsigned band.
3. Ross Copperman - Holding On And Letting Go- I love Ross's music and i'll always remember adding him to the little video bit of my Bebo profile when I was about 13! He's another fairly unknown artist who deserves a lot of recognition as he is very talented and it's his music that got me into artists such as John Mayer who are quite similar.
4. Maroon 5 -Makes Me Wonder- I can't believe that I can remember what this song reminds me of! I listened to this album on repeat when I was doing my year 9 geography project and it literally conjures up the memories of typing up lots of info about rainforests. Crazy!
5. Ed Sheeran - Sofa - I haven't been listening to Ed's music for long but I already know it will be sticking with me for a long time. His voice is so easy to listen to and his songs have meaning and are written so well. What more could you want in an artist?
6. Fenech Soler - Golden Sun - Been listening to these guys for a few months non-stop and i'm determined to see them live if I can find anyone to go with! To be fair I could have picked any song from their album but this is the one i've listening to the most. It's so catchy and is perfect for listening to when i'm walking to 6th form.
7. Daniel Powter - Lie To Me- This is another artist that is responsible for my music addiction. Totally fell in love with his sound when Bad Day first came out in 2005 and i've been listening to a bit of his more recent music recently. I love his voice and I really wish he'd gone further in this country as most people see him as a bit of a one hit wonder.
8. The Wanted -Replace Your Heart- I'm not really such a big The Wanted fan any more but there is a little bit of me that will always love their music. I followed them when they were just starting out - around the time they were shooting the All Time Low video. Now they're huge I don't really 'get' them any more but i'll always love them for the fact that 'Nathan Sykes' is the most searched for things on my blog thanks to the 'Boys Boys Boys' tag I did!
9. Starry Eyed - Ellie Goulding - I'm sure a lot of people would pick this song as I could listen to it on repeat and I wouldn't get bored. I'm really looking forward to Ellie Goulding releasing a new album as it feels like i've been waiting forever and her music is amazing! She's one of the very few female artists I listen to and i'd love to see her play live!
10. Snow Patrol -It's Beginning To Get To Me - My iPod is full of Snow Patrol songs and their music has lots of memories for me. I can't really pinpoint a particular one but i'm really hoping they'll release another album or go on another tour soon as they've been hiding for far too long!
11. Take That - Happy Now - I'm a little bit too young to remember Take That when they first started out but since they reformed i've loved their music and it's sort of become a tradition for me to buy their album. Happy Now is from their newest album and it kept me positive when Truffle passed away in April so it will always remind me of her :)
12. Friendly Fires-Hawaiian Air- Thought i'd finish up with a song i'm loving and listening to right now as I write this :) Really loving Friendly Fires at the minute and their new album is going to be the soundtrack to my summer.

Thanks for reading! Tell me and Caz what you think and send us a link on this post to your tag response!! Hope you enjoyed and thank you Caz for letting me guest blog!

I Tried To Be Strong, To Be Brave, To Behave Like A Hero

.1. Can't believe i'm saying this but i've actually finished 6th Form. I only have to go back 4 times for exams and then for my prom at the end of June but that's it and there are quite a few people i'll never see again. I'm kind of in two minds about it; i'm so happy to never have to go back again but the dynamics of my group of friends is going to change and I don't want to drift apart from a lot of people. I've been at the same school with pretty much the same group of people and teachers for 6 years and now everything is changing. I like to think change is good but it's going to be a big shock to the system in September when uni comes around and none of those people are there. I know it will do me good and improve my confidence but i'm gutted that there are people I might never see again. I suppose I might meet people who are just as lovely and with the wonders of Facebook they're always a message away.

.2. On Friday I celebrated the end of 6th Form with a free buffet, trip to the pub, drinks at the cricket club, a gig and then finished off in town. I don't really know how my body handled the amount of alcohol I had but I was hangover free on Saturday! It was the perfect way to celebrate the end of 6th Form and now i've got a few weeks of revision to do and then I have the whole summer off. If anyone wants to offer me a job I would be extremely grateful!

.3. I finished my 10 hour ICT exam on Thursday. It was the hardest exam i've ever done in my life and to say i'm relieved it's over is an understatement. It was just so draining trying to remember so much stuff for it and then getting annoyed with myself when I couldn't in the exam. There were so many times when I just wanted to give up. Fingers crossed my result will be ok, i'm not expecting anything amazing but i've got good grades in my other units so hopefully they'll keep my grade up :)

.4. This week's horoscope courtesy of Glamour: 'Funny to think how very different your life is from this time last year. DO realise that part of the reason for this seems to be the very confident character, which has slowly but surely now emerged.' I've always been slightly supersticious and I love nothing more than reading my horoscope, this week's is scarily very true!

Guest Post By Siobhan - My Perfume Collection

My name is Siobhan from Starsglittermagic

Thank you so much to the lovely Caz for letting me invade her blog for a post! She is busying away being a busy bee revising and taking her exams (everyone shout good luck Caz!) so here is my post to keep you guys entertained in the mean time =)

Now I honestly thought I wasn’t one who collected perfumes. I knew I liked perfumes and had a fair few different ones but only was it the other day that I realised the extent of my ‘fair few’.
I keep all my perfumes in my second draw of my cabinet. The first draw is home to my makeup (that doesn’t fit on top of the cabinet :P) I like keeping my perfumes in a draw as firstly it stops them from getting dusty and it also prevents any sunlight getting into them and causing any problems.

Daily/Cheap Perfumes
These are my daily/cheap perfumes and that I can just throw on at any time.

DKNY Red Delicious (on the left)
I say these is a cheap perfume as I only ever buy it when its £19.99 for 100ml. Its a bargain and lasts forever! This is a great daily scent which isn’t too overpowering. It has crisp apple as a base note and mixes this with red fruits, vanilla and a hint of rose and violet for a great summer scent.

Benefit B Spot (middle)
This is another cheap perfume as I got it free when I bought two benefit products. I have just run out and hoping I can grab another bottle online as they don’t sell it in the stores anymore. This is a combo of mango, freesia, peony and sandalwood. It’s a bit heavier then my normal everyday perfume but it lasts great on the skin.

Ralph Lauren Ralph (on the right)
This is my go to summer fragrance and reminds me of being a teenager as ive always had a bottle of this on the go. Its only £14.99 for 30ml and mixes sparkling green apple leaves with orange mandarin, pink magnolia and freesia.

Everyday/Evening
Nina Ricci Ricci Ricci (on the left)
I got this one after having nina for a while. After loving nina I instantly fell in love with ricci ricci. It is a more heavier pefume that I wear in the winter and on a night out. It is a floral scent with sandalwood and ‘moonflower indian tuberose centifolia rose!’ Whatever that is :P

Nina Ricci Nina (in the middle)
I love love love this scent and it is totally a me scent. It is light, summery and floral. perfection. It includes apple (I seem to like apple!) vanilla, lemon, lime white cedar and wood accord. Another floral scent which is perfect for the day or a summers night.

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Summer (on the right)
This is my newest perfume and was pretty pricey (around £55) but at least you get 50ml. It has tangerine, bergamot and pink pepper. It also has freesia which all my perfumes seem to have!

Special Evening
This is my special evening treat perfume! it has rose, lily of the valley, freesia (again!) lychee, raspberry and vanilla. I find this scent lasts well throughout a night out and I love the bottle too!

So all in all i love my floral scents! Although a lot of these perfumes have a lot of the similar notes they are smell very different which is great to mix things up but means I love them all =)

Thanks again Caz and I hoped you all enjoyed my post =)

Slowly Sinking, Wasting, Crumbling Like Pastries

As I mentioned in my post a few Sundays ago I made Hummingbird Bakery Lemon Bars and they turned out so well! I'm a bit of a perfectionist (it comes from being a Virgo!) and I was so happy with the way they looked and tasted :)
The recipe was fairly simple and is a pastry base with a lemon curd type filling. My bars had quite thick pastry and filling because my tin was quite a bit smaller than the one they suggest in the recipe but I quite like them that way. I ended up using 5 lemons to get the amount of zest you need so if you're thinking of trying this recipe out then you might want to bare that in mind. They didn't take too long to make which is always good and if you're a fan of really tangy lemon flavours then you'll love them.
The recipe is fairly long so i'm not going to type it all out; i'd recommend purchasing the book as it's amazing and I know a lot of you have it already! You also find the recipe here :)

One wish: That Friday would come sooner so I can go out and celebrate the end of 6th Form with my bests! Oh and if my H&M order would hurry up that would be great too ;)

Yummy food you make: usually sweet things. Queen of Puddings is my absolute fave!

This Day Won't End, The Fire Keeps Burning Out, I'm Never Gonna Leave Here

.1. I installed LinkWithin as i'm sure you'll be able to see below. I thought it would give some of my older posts a bit of love although ones that have been deleted still seem to come up which is a bit annoying! I'm also hoping to take part in #bbloggers tonight if i'm not too busy with revision - I missed it last week by about 5 minutes which I was gutted about!

.2. After seeing Kate wearing Barry M 147 I was inspired to give it a go. I've never really been a lipstick kinda girl but I knew I had it in my collection and after wearing it a few times it's really grown on me :) I'm also currently rocking Barry M's Coral Nail Paint which I love and I can see it being worn a lot through the summer.

.3. I'm so nervous for my ICT exam tomorrow, it's 10 hours and we're doing it over 4 days so I will have time to prepare each day but I find it all really difficult and I always seem to forget things or make mistakes. We have to make a database from scratch and for someone that hates mathematical type things I find it really frustrating! If you're considering doing A Level ICT please make sure it's not the course that involves databases! I'm really hoping it will go ok because it will have an effect on whether or not I get into uni.

Show Me Lights, Show Me How You Built The City That You Own

I haven't done one of these posts in forever! I thought i'd share a few of the beauty related things i've picked up this week.
Rimmel Lash Accelerator in Black
I picked up two of these as I love this mascara and I thought it was worth picking up as part of the 3for2 offer.
Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse
I've been using this foundation for years and although I really want to try the Bourjois Healthy Mix I thought i'd pick up another one of these until I have the time to properly try a new foundation as i'm so busy with exams and i'm always in a rush in a morning!

Batiste Dry Shampoos
I recently ran out of dry shampoo and it made me realise how much I rely on these. They were also on 3for2 and I picked up a variety of scents as I don't really have a favourite as long as it does it's job! I'm really looking forward to the new bigger cans coming out as it will mean I won't have to buy them as often.

Oilatum Natural Repair Face Cream
I'm definitely a convert to this cream and after seeing it featured on countless blogs I knew I had to try it! I've always had dry skin and this cream really improves it and my foundation looks a lot nicer over the top. It isn't the cheapest product in the world at just over £7 but it's worth every penny and you don't need to use much as it's quite thick.
Original Source Vanilla Milk & Raspberry Shower Cream
I got this from Sainsbury's and it's easily the best £1.01 i've spent this week! I haven't seen this new shower gel in any other shops but it smells amazing (like strawberry milkshake) and I can see myself repurchasing it! I know i'm not supposed to be buying any shower gels this year but please forgive me as I couldn't leave this one and I have used up quite a few of the Original Source ones I originally had! Sainsburys also had some new Original Source shower scrubs which looked really good too; they weren't on offer and seemed a bit pricey but they did smell good like all their other products!

We Could Fly to Berlin, Tokyo or Jamaica

.1. I was surprised at the response to my guest bloggers post on Friday - thank you to everyone that left me their email address - I was only expecting a couple of people to be interested! My blog is going to have lots of variety over the next few weeks so look out for those posts soon :) If you missed the post then you're more than welcome to leave me your email address if you'd like to guest blog as i'll hopefully be getting back to everyone tonight.

.2. Today I made The Hummingbird Bakery Lemon Bars so i'll be sharing some pictures of them in a post very soon. I've just taken them out of the oven so i'm hoping they'll set ok and will look nice when I cut them up. I still haven't got my hands on the new Cake Days book but fingers crossed it will be a bit cheaper when I have the money to buy it as there are lots of recipes in it that I want to try!

.3. For the past few months TV has been a bit crap but with the return of The Apprentice i'm enjoying it again. Not 100% sure who my favourites are but I do like the inventor, he makes me smile ;) The only problem is that i'm loving 24 Hours in A&E on Channel 4 too and it's on at the same time! I have such a big love for medical programmes, especially when they're real life! I also watched all 5 episodes of The Saturdays - What Goes On Tour... this morning which I really enjoyed as it's nice to see that the girls are just as down to earth in real life.

As The Heat Fills My Lungs, I'm Breathing Hawaiian Air

I've been wanting to make Millionaire's Shortbread for a while and finally got round to it today. It might be about a million calories a slice but it's worth it!
I didn't have as much chocolate as it says on the recipe so if I made it again i'd definitely use more! Apologies for the lack of photos, i'm a perfectionist and none of them turned out how I wanted!
Ingredients
For the base
150g (5½oz) plain flour
55g (2oz) caster sugar
115g (4oz) butter
For the filling
150g (5½oz) butter
150g (5½oz) dark brown soft sugar
397g can condensed Milk
For the topping
200g (7oz) milk chocolate, melted
You will also need
20cm (8in) square brownie tin, lined with baking parchment
Preparation
1. Preheat the oven to 180˚C/Gas Mark 4.
2. Mix the flour and sugar together and then rub in the butter until you have a sandy mixture.
3. Press this mixture very lightly and evenly, into the tin and bake for about 15 – 20 minutes until pale golden.
4. Place the butter for the filling and the sugar into a large non-stick frying pan and stir over a medium heat until the butter melts and the sugar dissolves.
5. To make a golden caramel, add the condensed milk, stirring continuously, until the first bubbles appear on the surface.
6. Remove from the heat as soon as it comes to the boil.
7. Spread the caramel evenly over the shortbread base and then cool and chill for about half an hour.
8. Pour the melted milk chocolate over the caramel, smoothing to the edges and allow to set in the fridge.
9. When the chocolate has hardened a little, cut into squares.

Give It All Just To Get It, You're Missing Pieces Everywhere

.1. I booked my uni accommodation earlier this week; I opted for a mixed flat but i've ended up in a flat with 5 other girls. Not 100% sure how I feel about it as it could get bitchy but equally we could all get on really well! I've found a couple of the girls online so it will be nice to talk to them before we move in although it kind of ruins the surprise of meeting new people. I know people say it all the time but it will be nice to move to uni and have a fresh start because I don't feel like I can totally be myself around the people at 6th Form.

.2. This week I haven't been up to much. I've had quite a few coursework deadlines and just generally lots of work to do. I also went back to 6th Form which has been alright as we've just moved into a brand new building so if we're late or don't do our work we just blame all the problems with the new equipment ;)

.3. I voted for the first time on Thursday which was nice. I'm not interested in politics and I don't know a lot about it but I didn't want my vote to be wasted which is why I did it. I know some people say you shouldn't vote if you don't really understand it but everyone has a right to vote and I did have a reason behind what I voted for :)

I Set Fire To The Rain, Watched It Pour As I Touched Your Face

I don't normally do monthly favourites (as you can probably tell) but i've been in the mood to write a more 'beauty' related post recently so here are a few products i've been loving for the past few months.
(Apologies for the not so great picture!)
Rimmel Lash Accelerator
Love love love this mascara so much! It does everything you would want a mascara to do and the wand is a really good shape and isn't too messy to use. It is a little pricey for a drugstore mascara (£8.99) but I think it's worth it and i'll be repurchasing it soon. As you can see the packaging isn't up to much and all the writing has worn off but I suppose it shows that it is much loved ;)

Lil Angel Perfume
I've had this for a while and it's my favourite out of the Harajuku Lovers collection. As much as I love the scent it's the fact that it lasts so long that keeps me using it. You don't get a lot of perfume for your money but it lasts a lot longer than a lot of the perfumes I have and this means you only need to use a little bit each time. It's also a bit of a summery scent so it's been perfect for the warmer weather recently.

No7 Grace Lipstick
I love this lipstick and it's easily the most worn one in my collection. It is quite subtle but offers a really delicate pink colour to the lips. I'm gutted it's limited edition so i'm trying not to use it too often although i'm hoping to update my collection with some more wearable shades soon.

ELF Eyebrow Kit
I didn't used to do my eyebrows a lot as they are usually covered up by my fringe (lazy I know!) but I really like the way they look when I use this kit. I think the packaging has been updated since I started using this but it's still a brilliant product especially for £3.50! I tend to just use the wax and not bother with the powder as it makes my eyebrows really dark and the lasting power of the wax is good enough to look fine on it's own.

Toni & Guy Protein Protection Mist
Is it wrong that I mainly use this because I like the scent? I've been trying to give my hair a bit of loving as blow drying and straightening it every other day isn't really the kindest way to look after it. I've been using this for a couple of weeks before I blow dry my hair and although I haven't noticed a significant difference in my hair i'm still hoping it's working it's magic. So the reason this is a favourite is because it smells nice although it might actually work for you if you have thinner hair than me where it would be more noticeable :)

All These Things Were Done In Secret

.1. Thanks for all the comments about Truffle; it really means a lot and i'm still adjusting to life without her. I'm trying to give Muffin lots of loving as she's really missing her little friend but the only thing that truely makes her happy is food so she's turning into a very greedy little Guinea Pig! I'm just taking each day as it comes to be honest and time is precious when you've got older pets so i'm trying to spend as much time as I can with them although being back at 6th form and having exams coming up aren't going to help!

.2. I honestly wasn't expecting to enjoy the Royal wedding as much as I did, in fact I was planning to just watch a little bit to catch a glimpse of Kate's dress and then turn it off but I ended up watching all of it! There was just something magical and breathtaking about it all; it almost didn't seem real but I felt so proud to be British and know people all over the world were watching it. Kate's dress was gorgeous - I love the lace on it and why am I finding Prince Harry so attractive? I'd be his princess any day! ;)

.3. I made my final uni choices today - scary/exciting stuff! I ended up picking the best uni for my course; at the end of the day if i'm paying over £3000 a year it's probably a good idea to go to the uni that i'm going to get the best degree from! I've also got my accommodation and student finance to sort out but overall i'm looking forward to uni! I can't believe it's May already, I seriously need to get some hardcore revision done but i'm struggling to find the motivation!
