I Like Guys That Sing #1

I genuinely had no idea what to call this post.. can you tell?! Anyway, I love all kinds of music and if anyone asks me to describe my taste in music I find it really difficult. I've recently developed a but of a soft spot for guys that sing. So let me introduce you to a few of them..

John Mayer
I've been listening to John's music since February and I can't get enough of it; he's been around for a while and i'm kicking myself for not knowing about him sooner! I love how soft and relaxing his music is and quite a few of his tracks are the beachy kind that you'd hear in Hollister. I've had Free Fallin' on repeat and it's one of those songs that prove how talented an artist really is. Not many people can sing in such a moving way! I also love all the tracks on his album 'Battle Studies' but my favourites are Heartbreak Warfare and Assassin.

Benjamin Francis Leftwich
Ben stole my heart with his cover of When You Were Young by The Killers which is just beautiful. A track i've been listening to a lot is his cover of Arcade Fire's Rebellion which you can get for free here. It's safe to say Ben is set to make it big and with all his recent support from Radio 1 i'm hoping he'll be given the opportunity to share his magic in the Live Lounge. I'm really looking forward to his album which will be out in June and his new single Box Of Stones which is amazing.

Bluey Robinson
I can't remember exactly how I found Bluey's music but I love it! It's something a bit different to what i'd normally listen to but it's catchy and after downloading his mixtape i've listened to his music a lot in the past few months. Bluey has recently been a support act on Justin Bieber's tour but I think it's Justin that should be supporting Bluey! YouTube is packed with Bluey's music including some amazing covers with my favourite being Kings Of Leon's Use Somebody. Before he got into music Bluey was in Eastenders so if you think you recognise him that might be where from! He will be releasing his new single Showgirl very soon so look out for it as i'm sure it will do well.

I Feel Myself Falling, I'm Feeling Happy Now

Truffle passed away peacefully last night so it's been a sad end to the week. Going to miss her lots as she'll always be my little noisebox but i'm trying to focus on keeping Muffin happy as I don't want her to get lonely. This photo was taken last Saturday when Muffin and Truffle went out on the grass for the first time this year. It was so nice to watch them having fun and doing what they do best: eat!

A few Lindt Easter treats

My new bracelet from the Dorothy Perkins sale. £2 instead of £6.50 :)

I've been enjoying the lovely weather we've been having. I have no motivation to revise or do work because of it!

I finally picked up a couple of new books, I haven't got my head into a good book in far too long!

Been wearing these a lot, not gonna lie, they were hiding in my wardrobe and I forgot I had them! They're perfect now it's getting warmer :)

I Get Dressed Up In My Summer Clothes & Step Outside To Look At The Roses

.1. First of all, Happy Easter! I've got quite a bit of chocolate to enjoy which is nice and I was really enjoying the lovely weather until we got a rainstorm and lots of thunder yesterday!  I'll be honest and say I failed Lent. I have significantly cut down on all the crap i've been eating but it's so difficult when none of your family are taking part and there are lots of tasty things to eat! I haven't really done that badly; I mainly just broke it on two of my friends birthdays, when I went to Scarborough and when my mum made an incredibly tasty fruit crumble! I think after i've eaten all the chocolate I got today i'll probably carry on eating less sugary treats as there is more to life than chocolate! I hope everyone else did well with their Lent challenges too :)

.2.This week has had it's ups and downs but on the whole it's been nice. I've really enjoyed the warmer weather although i've spent a lot of it stuck inside doing work for 6th Form. I went to a pub quiz on Tuesday; I can't say I particularly enjoyed it as I knew about 1 out of the 40 questions as it wasn't exactly aimed at a group of 18 year olds! I wasn't impressed that a group of teenagers sat on the table next to us won when they'd been cheating using their phones!

.3. I went out on Thursday night with everyone from 6th Form. It's the last properly organised night so I tried to make the most of it and overall I had a good night. I wore this vest from New Look paired with this skirt from H&M and some black heels. I was planning on doing an OOTN but I honestly can't get any decent pictures! Really want to get myself a decent camera but sadly with uni coming up in September I doubt it will happen - i'm not the best person in the world at saving money!

And We Stop And Stare Cause We Don't Know Where We're Going

I've got this thing about doing NOTD posts; I kind of feel like i'm cheating when I do them because you just put up a photo of your nails and write a bit about them and that's it. I don't feel like they make the most interesting posts so I figured i'd take photos of my nails for a few weeks and then stick them all in one post, I hope you don't mind!
I set myself a little challenge a few months ago and that was to wear every single nail polish I own at least once as some of them are so unloved! I'm hoping to do one of these posts every couple of months as a sort of photo diary of my progress but also a way of me seeing what each polish I looks like on.

It feels good to be doing a bit of beauty blogging after a few months off; I haven't bought many new products recently as i've been trying to use things up (it feels like project 1000 pan!) but i'm hoping to pick up a few new things soon so fingers crossed there will be more beauty related posts coming your way!

I just want to mention that Fenech Soler have released their new single Stop and Stare this week and I think everyone should download it as it's an amazing song! The reason i'm mentioning it is because proceeds from the single will be going to the Teenage Cancer Trust as Ben from the band is currently undergoing treatment for Testicular Cancer. So not only will you have a fab song on your iPod, you'll also be donating money to a really worthwhile cause. I've been loving Fenech Soler's music for a while now and I have so much respect for them for doing this as there are a lot of bands that would just keep all the money from their single to themselves.

I hope you're all enjoying the sunny weather!

It's Your Heart That Gives Me This Western Feeling

.1. I went to Boots today in the hope of picking up a few new things but I actually left empty handed! I wanted the new Barry M Nail Paint in Peach Melba but they didn't have it in which I was gutted about! I was also going to repurchase the Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara but it was full price so I thought i'd wait until it's on offer. When I do eventually get it i'll probably do a review as it's the only mascara i've ever wanted to repurchase!

.2. I'm currently lusting after these Battenburg Earrings from Layla Amber on Etsy. I love finding unique designers who make jewellery that's a bit different! I might have to treat myself to them when my revision is over :) Dorothy Perkins have quite a lot of jewellery in the sale at the minute; I picked up a really nice bracelet reduced from £6.50 to £2 today so have a look next time you're near one. I'll post a picture of the bracelet in my week in photos post which i'll hopefully publish in the next couple of days :)

.3. This morning I did an hour of volunteer dog walking for the Retired Greyhound Trust. I haven't done it for a while as it does involve getting up early but I really enjoyed it and i'm hoping to make it more of a regular thing. I walked a lovely greyhound called Minty who actually took me for a walk so it was a good way of getting some exercise! I'd really recommend doing some volunteer dog walking as it's perfect for people like me who don't have the time for a dog and also means you can help out a charity.

Scarborough

I went to Scarborough on Tuesday with two of my friends and had a really good day. It was supposed to be quite cold and the weather said it might rain but it actually warmed up and was sunny.
We decided to make the most of being at the seaside as we don't go a lot so we bought ice cream, built sandcastles, walked around the town, bought sticks of rock and had a nice meal at ASK.
I thought i'd share a few photos of my day...
Boats on the harbour
The sun eventually came out (wish i'd been able to go on a yacht!)
We had a Malteaser Shakeaway on the beach (love that you can see a donkey in the background!)
Chicken and Margherita Pizza from ASK
I'm 18 and making sandcastles on the beach using a bucket and spade bought from a £1 shop haha!
Rock Shop (we didn't actually buy our rock from here but I thought the shop looked nice!)
My favourite flavours of rock: Strawberry and Lemon ♥
We went to the SeaLife centre and saw Penguins, Otters and Seals. I'm really glad we had 2for1 vouchers as it definitely wasn't worth £15 a ticket to get in!

Next time we go back we're going to take our flip flops and hopefully it will be even warmer! I didn't manage to get a photo of my ice cream but it was a whippy Lemon Twist from Harbour Bar, i'd really recommend it!

I Wanna Dance With You But My Hands Are On Fire

.1. I've been doing coursework almost all week but the worst of it has been handed in. Honestly felt like I was going to go crazy it just took over my life! I got my ICT drafts back so now i've got to spend the next month sorting them out while learning how to use and build databases from scratch. Can't wait for it all to be over before it's even begun!

.2. I went to a house party on Thursday night, it was a bit crazy and I didn't really know some of the people there that well but I had a good night anyway. It was a nice way to celebrate the fact i've got a month off 6th Form and hopefully there will still be a few more opportunities to spend time with friends amongst all the revision I have to do!

.3. How nice has the weather been this weekend?! I've loved being able to go out without a coat and not be freezing all the time! I actually got a bit of sun burn yesterday even though I didn't actually spend a lot of time sat in the sun! I had my lunch outside earlier; Chicken Tikka Wraps with a glass of ice cold Innocent Apple Juice - lush! and i'm going to grab myself an ice cream later!

Past Few Days In Photos

I like being nosy and finding out more about people on their blogs and I really enjoy reading Abby, Michelle and Siobhan's 'Week In Photos' posts so I thought i'd do one of my own. Let me know if you like these kinds of posts and i'll do more :)

Finally finished my coursework! Love that Malteaser bunnies feature on my title page ;)

These were a disaster! Might do a post so you can all laugh at the mess I made!

The reason I haven't bought any shampoo/shower gel/hair products this year!

I Got The Feeling That I’m Not Alone, So Many Voices In The Great Unknown

.1. I hope everyone has had a good Mother's Day :) I've spent my weekend doing coursework although I haven't done as much as i'd have liked and it's got to be handed in on Wednesday! We have to put it on A3 paper though and i've run out so I do have an excuse as I can't get any more until tomorrow!

.2. I think I might have to sell my TV because there seriously isn't anything to watch anymore ;) No more Take Me Out, Junior Doctors or One Born Every Minute which means i'll have to do some coursework or revision! If anyone wants to recommend me anything good to watch I would be very grateful, i'm thinking of watching an episode of The Only Way Is Essex to see what all the fuss is about!

.3. I went out on Friday night to a party for another one of my friend's 18th. I don't see him a lot so it was nice to have a catch up and I didn't go with my usual group of friends so it was good to see a few different people for once. I'm trying to make the most of the times I do go out because before I know it i'll be revising every night!

...Oh and i'm so excited for this!

March

Honestly can't believe i'm already writing this month's roundup/update post! This year is going so fast it's crazy! I'm sort of excited as uni is getting closer but i've just got my list of exam dates so mammoth revision sessions are just around the corner!
Beauty
I got my hair cut this month at a new salon and although the hairdresser wasn't exactly friendly (hello awkward conversions!) she actually cut my hair really well. She didn't cut too much off and trimmed my fringe neatly which doesn't normally happen so I got a really nice cut and my hair feels and looks so much healthier. The salon uses Wella products which i'm not really familiar with but i'm thinking of purchasing the heat protectant spray she used as it smelled gorgeous! I'm not sure how expensive it is but I don't think it will be too pricey.

Life
I had lots of really good nights with my friends this month. Two trips to Frankie and Benny's, a Chinese, trashy TV, cocktails, and lots of gossip are enough to make me happy!
I had a year group photo this month and everyone had to get in height order. Guess who was on the end?! Ha, I wasn't expecting to be the shortest, I mean I knew I was short but not so tiny that i'm the shortest in my year!
Finding out that Truffle was ill definitely put a downer on the month. She's still doing really well though and despite being ill she still has her cheeky personality and is running around and eating lots!
Music
I've pretty much played the Fenech Soler, Noah & The Whale and Neon Trees albums non-stop this month. Seriously can't get enough. There are a couple of other songs that deserve a mention like Seven Days in Sunny June by Jamiroquai which is getting me in the mood for summer :) Have a look at my LastFM if you're interested in other songs i've been listening to. I did say last month I thought i'd reach 9000 plays, clearly I underestimated myself as i'm now on 10100 haha, not expecting to be at 15000 in May though!

Food
Can't say i've made any real food discoveries this month but I have tried the Philadelphia Sun Dried Tomato & Basil which is quite tasty! I got my first Graze boxes which i'm enjoying and i'm trying to order them as the occasional treat for myself to help me stay away from unhealthy snacks. I'm addicted to Sticky Choccy Pudding and i've been abusing the 'Send Soon' button so I get it every time I order a box haha!

TV
I'm actually devastated that Junior Doctors ended last week, fingers crossed there will be another series! I could watch it for hours, it's my kind of program completely! I'm really hoping that something similar will start soon as tv is becoming crap as Take Me Out and One Born Every Minute have also ended!
April is going to be a month of revision which isn't going to be fun but it means no 6th Form for a month and no more early mornings so I don't have too much to complain about!
